Growing up at the base of the Canadian Rocky Mountains in Mohkinstsis, I have been privileged to live in such an amazing and awe inspiring part of the world. Stemming from a young age I have always had a deep attraction to nature, plants, animals, rocks and water. I am passionate about exploring the forests, flora and fauna in my local landscape and spend much of my time outdoors hiking, gardening and camping. I have spent years exploring how mother nature and her medicines have the capability to heal us physically, emotionally and spiritually, how everything is connected and how miraculous communication networks extend beyond humans and animals to plants, trees, and fungi. My paintings are vibrant depictions of my deep love and relationship to the land, nature and celebrating the Canadian wilderness.
Vibrant Landscapes
“Vibrant Landscapes” is a celebratory series using vivid colours, textures, patterns and organic forms to create scenes reveling in the untamed natural beauty, rolling hills and wild grasses of the western Canadian landscapes. These saturated confections jubilantly bring in bright and cheerful colours, festive shapes, and thick, saccharine applications of “frosting” to add depth and layers to the topography. I use line work to represent the interconnected “network” between the elements in nature. My paintings often have layers of built up mixed media, collaged elements and even rhinestones as I delight in heavy application of pattern and texture through to be reminiscent of layers of vegetation in the forest canopy and floor. The paintings invite you to take part in the celebration of our natural world and encourage you to remember your own memories of spending time in nature, remembering the emotions and connection you felt.

Klara
My “Klara” series is a gentle depiction of my relationship with florals and plants. These pieces are reflections of home life, plants and nature and are created with bright and vibrant watercolour on paper or acrylic on canvas. I named the series after my grandmother who was a lover of flowers, bouquets, nature and had a vibrant zest for life and beauty. A cheerful and bold personality, she danced through life to the beat of her own drum, always with a smile and a little mischief. These beauties are playful, colourful and joyful and brighten any corner.
