  • June 2021- Calgary Arts Development - Living a Creative Life

  • “Stephanie Banszky is a community leader with a perspective and skillset that sees the limitless – yet sometimes invisible – opportunities for youth (and vulnerable populations) to begin engaging with broader society. This process of community engagement is one that requires both its facilitators and participants to have patience, introspection, and ultimately, courage.”

    Bryan Francisco

Spoken Word/Public Artist and Community Activator

  • "Stephanie is such a joy to collaborate with! She is humble and easygoing, full of fresh ideas and open to brainstorming. She always approaches projects and programs she is facilitating with astute and thoughtful consideration for the participant's experience and their takeaway, and always makes people feel welcome and comfortable."

    Noor Sayadi

    Visual Artist and Community Activator

  • “Stephanie has been one of the most supportive people I have worked with. She always pushed people out of their comfort zones in order to help unlock their full potential. Stephanie has only the best intentions for those around her, and works to the participants' best interests. She helps build opportunities for others and teaches valuable lessons in the process. Shephanie has been nothing but a joy to work with, and I would take any opportunity to work with her in the future. I am very grateful.”

    Group Participant

  • “Stephanie was the reason I got into art since she gave us a lot of confidence. From her, I learned that everyone could be an artist and an artist identity is not solely based on art skills. Her youth facilitation style gave me the space to take up leadership skills. For example, I had the chance through Stephanie to become a youth facilitator and help lead discussions for the newer youth participants.”

    Group Participant

  • “Stephanie is a great facilitator. She leads the discussions to teach us a particular social issue that we are interested in such as food insecurity. But she also gives us (the youth) agency and power to come up with an art project that will explore and address the social issue. For example, under Stephanie, the youth created a children’s book that includes diverse characters from all walks of life. The story explores food insecurity and food sustainability. The story also advocates for a food charter and food sustainable practices on a community and social structural level. I always love having Stephanie as a facilitator and I would take any program with her if I had the chance”

    Group Participant

  • “I really feel that Stephanie really cares about the youth and the people she works with. She always treated me like an equal and valued the youth’s ideas and beliefs. Her passion for art made me more open to learning about the various forms of art and exploring my creativity even though I don’t have great art skills. She helped me discover my interest in sociology due to the discussions she led on social issues and her giving us the artistic space to explore our creativity and thoughts on those issues.”

    Group Participant

  • “Having collaborated with Stephanie for two years, her commitment to social change through the practice of art is obvious and impactful. Her facilitation practices create an environment that makes it safe for people to try their hand at artistic endeavours, and as they do, they are guided through the kind of social emotional learning that is at the root of all effective social change movements. Stephanie has both a wide array of technical skills and personality trait that make her an excellent guide for youth and adults both”

    Syma Habib

Community Activator, Social Change Maker, Food Security Advocate

  • “Stephanie has given me an opportunity to not only grow as an artist but also as a change maker through her facilitation. I have been inspired by her work over the past several years and have learned what it means to challenge myself in a brave space while also being encouraged to express my emotions and passions through different activities and art styles. Because of her, I have recently become a permanent youth facilitator that focuses on breaking down what it means to be a youth artist with a voice and passion for my local communities.”
